Bolt Launches Guided Bolt Tours in Madeira

Bolt Launches Guided Bolt Tours in Madeira

Bolt reports it has started “Bolt Tours” in Madeira. The tours last three hours and visit four famous places. They begin and end at Funchal Cruise Terminal. Anyone can join.

New Service Begins at Funchal Cruise Terminal

Bolt, the European mobility platform, says it has launched “Bolt Tours” in Madeira. The service is available since Thursday. Tours begin and end at the Funchal Cruise Terminal. They are designed mainly for cruise passengers, but anyone can book.

Each tour lasts around three hours and includes stops at four key locations:

  • Cabo Girão

  • Pico dos Barcelos

  • The Church of Nossa Senhora do Monte

  • Monte Palace Tropical Garden.

Designed for Short-Term Visitors

Bolt says the service offers a simple and comfortable way to explore Madeira without needing to plan or navigate. In a company statement, Mário de Morais, head of ride-hailing for Bolt in Portugal, said:

Bolt Tours was created so that each visitor can enjoy Madeira to the fullest, even with limited time. For those arriving by cruise ship (and others as well), this service offers the reassurance of an organized tour to see the island’s main sights with ease and without complications.

The company highlights that the service is meant to reduce stress for travelers with limited time on the island.

Fixed Prices and Flexible Booking

Tour bookings are made directly through the Bolt app. Users can choose from three vehicle types:

  • up to four passengers (Bolt Tours)

  • six (Bolt Tours XL)

  • or eight (Bolt Tours Van)

All rides have fixed prices. There are no additional charges for waiting, according to the company. This pricing model is aimed at giving tourists more control over costs during their visit.

Part of a Broader Tourism Strategy

Bolt describes its tours as “organized, flexible in schedule, and easy to use.” Drivers are selected for their knowledge of local routes and customer service.

The launch in Madeira is part of Bolt’s effort to expand its tourism services in major European travel destinations. By offering short, guided circuits through popular attractions, the company hopes to meet the needs of today’s time-conscious travelers.

Where to find Bolt Tours in the App

Upon testing the app, I wasn’t able to succeed in booking a tour yet. It’s possible that the app hasn’t been fully updated for all users yet. However, I found hints at the Bolt Tours here. I contacted the support and asked for further clarification. I will update the info here as soon as I know more.

  1. Open the Bolt app and make sure it's updated to its latest version.

  2. Zoom in on Funchal’s cruise terminal area - the service is designed to depart from and return to the Funchal Cruise Terminal.

  3. On the main screen, you’ll see a new category labelled "Bolt Tours"

  4. Tap the Tours option to browse available 3‑hour tourist trip.

  5. Select your preferred vehicle type, pick a departure time, and confirm the fixed price - no waiting surcharges apply.
