Funchal Has Never Been Warmer in January
Funchal experienced a record-breaking high temperature in January yesterday. The previous record of 25.5 ºC from 1982 was surpassed at 11:10am, with a new record set at 25.8 ºC. But the temperature didn't stop there and continued to rise, reaching 26.2 ºC at 11:30am. This marks the highest-ever measured maximum temperature in Funchal for January. The previous record was set 42 years ago, in 1982.
Porto Moniz Sets the Absolute Record
It's noteworthy that the absolute all-time record for January temperature in Madeira is 27.3 ºC, it was recorded in Porto Moniz this Wednesday. The recent temperature spikes underscore an unusual and significant climatic event, challenging longstanding records and contributing to a broader conversation about changing weather patterns.
