A Wizz Air plane struggled to land at Madeira Airport yesterday, bouncing on the runway before settling. The landing was recorded and posted online. A replacement aircraft was brought in for the return flight, allowing the plane to go into inspection.

Aircraft Bounces on Runway Before Stabilizing on Third Touchdown

A Wizz Air plane had a difficult landing on Sunday, May 25, at Madeira Airport. The aircraft touched down hard, bounced once, and only fully stabilized on the third contact with the runway. The landing was published by the YouTube channel Madeira Runway Spotting, showing footage from both outside and inside the aircraft — including audio from inside the cabin.

Hard Landing Leaves Wizz Air Passengers Shaken

Replacement Aircraft Sent for Passengers

Due to the severity of the landing, the aircraft is up for inspection in order to ensure that it has not suffered any technical damage, possibly to its landing gear. As a result, the plane was not cleared to fly again. It is a standard procedure for aircraft to undergo a technical inspection after such an incident.

As we’ve learned, the landing was so hard that another aircraft is scheduled to arrive later tonight, after midnight, to carry the passengers who were supposed to depart.

No Injuries Reported, But Investigation Expected

No injuries have been reported so far, but the sudden movement and hard impact likely caused concern among passengers on board. The cause of the rough landing has not been officially confirmed. Madeira Airport is known for its challenging runway conditions due to wind and weather, making landings more difficult compared to other airports.
