Madeira Gains More Than 2800 New Residents in One Year
At the end of 2024, Madeira had 259,440 residents - the highest figure since 2014. The population has grown for six straight years, with 2,818 more people than in 2023. This rise is mainly due to migration: while the natural population change (births minus deaths) remained negative at -781, it improved compared to -1,040 the year before. Migration alone added 3,599 people to the region’s population.
