Last Contact With Igor Holewiński Recorded Sunday Morning Near Boa Ventura
Authorities reported that Igor Holewiński, the missing polish tourist that was last heard from on Sunday, he was following a route partly recommended and partly not recommended. He lost mobile signal upon entering a 2.5 km long tunnel, and no contact has been made since. “There is no mobile coverage in the area,” said a spokesperson for the search team, highlighting the challenges faced in tracking the hiker.

Search efforts began on Monday, initially focusing on the location of the last contact. On the ground, the Grupo Operacional Cinotécnico and the PSP’s Brigada de Busca, Salvamento, Socorro e Resgate em Montanha were not able to locate Igor or his phone.
By Tuesday, additional support from the National Republican Guard (GNR) and the Regional Civil Protection drone team allowed the search to expand along Igor’s full planned route, including a path to Pico Ruivo and ending in Santana. But there were no signs of him.
Deputy Superintendent Fábio Castro said to Diário de Notícias Madeira that all possible pedestrian areas have already been searched, but no sign of Igor Holewiński has been found. Teams kept searching throughout Wednesday, paying special attention to places with cliffs or other areas where someone could fall.
