SIGA Network Introduces New Pre-Paid Travel Passes Starting January 22, 2026
The SIGA public transport network officially launched its new "Madeira Region" pre-paid tickets this Thursday. The new system allows users to travel as much as they want during a set number of days.

The new tickets come in different durations to fit various holiday lengths. The Municipal and Intermunicipal passes include the Aerobus while the Regional Pass equals the Intermunicipal pass, but comes with free rides for the Aerobus.

Prices for Daily Regional Tickets

Category | Duration | Price (Regional) |
|---|---|---|
Adult/Child | 1 day | €13.40/€6.90 |
Adult/Child | 2 days | €17.90/€9.10 |
Adult/Child | 3 days | €22.40/€11.40 |
Adult/Child | 5 days | €28.70/€14.80 |
Adult/Child | 7 days | €35.00/€18.00 |
All these prices are per person and offer unlimited trips on SIGA buses. These tickets are available at various sales points across the island. To use the system, passengers must first buy a rechargeable SIGA card for a small fee of €0.50. Once they have the card, they can load it with the chosen pass. The regional government believes this will help reduce the time buses spend at stops, as fewer people will need to pay the driver with cash.
This new offer of transport tickets, aimed at the tourist market, fills a gap that existed in the Region's public transport system.

Infrastructure Secretary Confirms New Tickets are Valid Across Entire SIGA Network
Secretary of Equipment and Infrastructure, Pedro Fino, explained that the goal is to make the public transport system more modern and attractive. By providing clear pricing and easy access to tickets, the government hopes to see an increase in the number of tourists using buses instead of cars. This could help reduce traffic on the island’s main roads and near popular tourist spots.
