..has launched a fully integrated pre-paid ticket system across all operators. While pre-paid tickets existed before under individual operators, the new SIGA system introduces standardized fares, consistent transfer windows, and multiple purchase points, making travel across the island more convenient and predictable for passengers.
The SIGA network, which integrates the public road transport operators CAM, Horários do Funchal and SIGA Rodoeste, has started offering pre-purchased tickets on the GIRO system since yesterday.
According to the press release, the new feature allows users to purchase travel tickets at prices lower than those charged on board, by pre-loading them onto their GIRO ticket or pass card.

Municipal Pre-Paid Tickets
Municipal Tickets are for travel within a single municipality, such as Funchal. They are cheaper and cover shorter trips, designed for daily commuting, school runs, or short errands within the city or town. Municipal tickets also allow free transfers for 45 minutes after validation.
Adults: €1.45
Children (up to 12): €0.75
Intermunicipal Pre-Paid Tickets
Intermunicipal Tickets are for travel between different municipalities on the island. These tickets cost more because they cover longer distances and connect towns across Madeira. Intermunicipal tickets allow free transfers for 90 minutes after validation.
Adults: €1.95
Children (up to 12): €1.00
Tickets are available at SIGA operator counters and through the Payshop agent network.
