Robert Santos Leads Chega to Victory in Boaventura’s Parish Elections
In todays autarquias, the far-right political party Chega (“Enough”) has won its first local government victory in Madeira by taking control of Boaventura. The list led by Robert Santos secured the majority of votes, defeating the candidates from the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the Socialist Party (PS). This outcome gives Chega a symbolic foothold in the region, where PSD has traditionally dominated local politics since Madeira gained autonomy.
