Regional Executive Prepares Law Including €2 Per Day Charge Announced on October 3, 2025
The Madeira Regional Government is preparing new rules for the car rental sector, according to a report published today, by Diário de Notícias da Madeira. The proposal includes a daily fee of €2 for every rental car, to be paid by clients when they hire a vehicle. Whether residents of Madeira would have to pay the tax as well has not been mentioned yet.
Parking Obligations for Rental Firms Aim to Reduce Pressure on Public Roads
Alongside the €2 per day fee, the new legislation would force rent-a-car companies to ensure they have parking areas for their vehicles, rather than relying on public roads or residential areas.
