Public Must Pay At Least €4.5 per Trail, PR1 Will Cost €10.50

For visitors not using operators with agreements, the access fee is €4.5, except for the PR1 - Vereda do Areeiro trail. PR1 has been closed since August 2024 for improvements and safety works and is expected to reopen in April 2026. After reopening, the fee will rise to €7 for visitors with operators and €10.50 for other visitors. Rescheduling or refunds are allowed only if IFCN restricts access.

Residents Continue to Access Trails Free, Registration Still Required

Residents of Madeira continue to have free access to all Classified Hiking Trails. However, they must now register and reserve their visit through SIMplifica to comply with the set visitor limits. This change has caused backlash online, with many locals saying it is unfair that they can no longer use the trails without making a reservation in advance.
