Locals Divided as Environmental Groups Warn of Damage
The cable car has become one of Madeira’s most contested tourism projects. Supporters believe it will increase access to the scenic mountain village- Environmental groups and local critics, however, fear that the development will harm the area’s landscape, irreversibly damage ecosystems and change the traditional character of Curral das Freiras.
