Novermber 3 (Yesterday): Authorities Temporarily Halt Night Operation in The Evening
Search efforts for Igor Holewiński, a 31‑year‑old Polish tourist missing since Sunday, November 2, were temporarily suspended at nightfall on November 3 due to safety concerns. He was reportedly on holiday in Madeira with his girlfriend, who returned to Poland on November 1. Holewiński had gone on a solo hike. PSP – Polícia de Segurança Pública Deputy Superintendent Fábio Castro confirmed the suspension, stating that no sign of Holewiński was found during yesterday’s operations.
His sister, Olga Holewińska, has confirmed that she has had no contact with her brother, Igor Holewiński, since Sunday morning, when he informed her that he was going to walk alone towards Pico Ruivo.

Search Resumed in The Morning Hours: Drone and Mountain Rescue Teams Deployed near Last Phone Signal
This morning, on November 4, the mountain rescue brigade of PSP and additional teams from Serviço Regional de Proteção Civil, Instituto das Florestas e Conservação da Natureza, Guarda Nacional Republicana and the forestry police resumed searches in the region of the last phone‑signal for Holewiński.
We don’t know exactly which route he took – he might have chosen a less-known path from São Vicente into the mountains.

According to family sources, Holewiński’s phone transmitted a final location at 32°47’30.8″ N, 16°57’29.7″ W at about 12:30 on Sunday. His sister, Olga Holewińska initially reported the signal remained static for many hours thereafter and he has not answered calls or messages.

Family Appeal and Warning Against Independent Searches
Holewiński’s sister has called for anyone with information to contact local police and to not proceed with independent searches.
We are in contact with a local search group … However, we ask that no independent searches be organized – it could hinder the rescue teams’ work and put others in danger.
Authorities continue the search under challenging mountain terrain and are asking the public to avoid entering hazardous zones. As of now, there are no new sightings or publicy confirmed leads beyond the last known phone location.
Police Carries on Search But So Far Has No Further Information
In a report by Noticias ao Minuto at 16:49 today, it was mentioned that Levada dos Tornos is the longest levada in Madeira, stretching over 100 kilometers. The police confirmed that search operations are ongoing and that no further information is currently available.
