IPMA Predicts Heavy Showers and Thunderstorms Until Mid-Morning
Madeira will continue to face unstable weather today. The national weather service (IPMA) expects very cloudy skies and several showers, some strong and with thunder until mid-morning. Winds from the west should stay between 30 and 45 km/h, with gusts up to 75 km/h. In higher areas, gusts may reach 95 km/h before easing later.
Temperatures Fall Slightly With Lows of 18ºC and 17ºC
A small drop in temperature is forecast. Minimums should be around 18ºC in Madeira and 17ºC in Porto Santo, with maximums of 23ºC on both islands. Funchal will also see strong showers and thunder early in the day, with winds between 15 and 35 km/h.
Yellow Alert for Northern Coast Waves of 3.5 to 4.5 Meters
A yellow alert remains active along the northern coast until midnight. Waves from the northwest are expected to range between 3.5 and 4.5 meters, a similar situation to Porto Santo.
Southern Coast Waves Decrease to 2.5–3 Meters in the Afternoon
On the southern coast, waves from the west or southwest should start at 3.5 to 4.5 meters and then fall to 2.5 to 3 meters in the eastern area during the afternoon. Sea temperatures will stay near 22–23ºC.
