The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) issued wind and sea warnings for Madeira on Saturday, with gusts reaching 100km/h in high-altitude zones. Ricardo Tavares, regional delegate of IPMA, highlighted the severity of the storm conditions across the island:

The weather forecast predicts afternoon rain showers, some accompanied by hail, with a risk of thunderstorms mainly along Madeira’s northern coast. Northern slopes and the island’s east and west extremes experienced gusts up to 100km/h, with some areas in highlands reaching 140km/h, further complicating transportation and outdoor activities.
