Accident in the Center of the Island
A 61-year-old woman died today after suffering a fall off a ladder inside a holiday home in Porto Santo, according to local authorities. The incident took place in the central area of the island, where the tourist had been staying during her visit to the island.
The victim reportedly fell inside the residence and became unconscious. The Porto Santo Volunteer Fire Department was called and provided first aid at the scene.
Rescuers Arrive as Woman Lies Unconscious
The Porto Santo Volunteer Firefighters were the first to respond, providing immediate medical assistance after the woman was found unconscious inside the residence. Shortly after, the EMIR (Rapid Medical Intervention Team) arrived to give advanced support. Despite the combined efforts, the victim’s condition did not improve.
Attempted Transfer to Madeira
Medical staff at the local health center stabilized the woman for transfer to Madeira by a Portuguese Air Force aircraft. However, she died before the transport could be completed. Her death was confirmed after leaving the health center.
