The Central Criminal Court of Funchal sentenced an employee of Horários do Funchal (HF) to five years in prison for one count of embezzlement and five counts of document forgery.

The court noted that the employee is no longer working for HF and has been integrated into society, which influenced the decision to suspend the sentence. This legal measure allows the defendant to remain free while making restitution.

Judge emphasized that the defendant must return the €98,000 allegedly taken from HF. The restitution does not have to cover the full amount, but it must be enough to show an effort to repair the damage. Failure to pay could activate the full five-year prison term.
