Emergency Relief: Health Centers Remain Open At All Time
In Madeira, a total of four health centers (Centro de Saúde) in the municipalities of Santana, Porto Moniz, Ribeira Brava, and Câmara de Lobos now operate 24 hours a day, every day of the year. This aims to ensure adequate access to healthcare and reduce unnecessary visits to hospital emergency departments, where long waiting times have become an issue that needs to be tackled with urgency.
Madeira Doubles Access to 24/7 Healthcare
With this change, Madeira now boasts a total of eight health centers providing round-the-clock urgent care, extending the already existing 24/7 services in Calheta, Machico, São Vicente, and Porto Santo.
SESARAM: Always Seek Primary Care Centers First
The Regional Health Service of Madeira (SESARAM) emphasizes that these services should be sought after exhausting options at primary care centers with one's family doctor. This initiative aims to enhance healthcare accessibility and alleviate pressure on hospital emergency services.
