Dirty Glass Ruins Ocean View

A guide-interpreter present at the site said that visitors were unhappy because they couldn’t really enjoy the view of the Atlantic Ocean and the striking Cabo Girão cliff. The glass panels at the viewpoint were reportedly dirty and in poor condition.

According to a guide-interpreter present at the site who spoke to JM, visitors were displeased because they could not fully enjoy the view over the Atlantic Ocean and the impressive cliff of Cabo Girão, due to the viewpoint’s glass being dirty and in poor condition. “It’s in a deplorable state,” one tourist lamented.

Concerns Over Paid Access

Some visitors questioned how a tourist site of such importance could be allowed to fall into this state, especially now that entrance to the viewpoint requires a fee. The poor condition of the glass was seen as unacceptable given the location’s significance.

However, considering the large number of tourists visiting the site, the question of how to maintain cleanliness is important - but likely difficult to answer.
