More than 30% of the new passenger cars registered in Portugal between January and October are fully electric. In October alone, they made up almost half of the market.

The figures were published on Monday by the Automobile Association of Portugal (ACAP) and reported by the news agency Lusa. They cover the whole country and do not give a separate figure for Madeira.

Only 22.5% of New Cars Run Solely on Petrol or Diesel

Cars powered only by petrol made up 19.1% of registrations, and diesel cars just 3.4%. ACAP puts the remaining 77.5% in its alternative energy group, which includes electric cars and all types of hybrids.
