Accident on Caminho dos Pretos Leaves One Man in Critical Condition
A man who was seriously injured in a motorbike crash on Monday night in Funchal has died, hospital officials confirmed on Wednesday. The accident took place on Caminho dos Pretos, a narrow road known for its steep curves and limited visibility.
Victim Suffered Cardiac Arrest at the Scene
Emergency teams were called to the scene shortly after the accident. When they arrived, the motorcyclist was in cardiac arrest, according to JM-Madeira. Paramedics were able to restart his heart on-site, stabilizing him enough for transport to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.
Patient Remained in Intensive Care Until Death Was Confirmed
Doctors admitted the victim to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he remained under constant observation. His condition was described as critical from the beginning. Despite ongoing treatment and monitoring, his injuries proved too severe. His death was confirmed early Wednesday.
Police Investigate Possible Involvement of Others
According to information gathered by local media, the Public Security Police (PSP) has opened an investigation. They aim to understand whether anyone else might have been involved in the incident. So far, there are no official details on how the crash occurred or if other vehicles were present.
