Over €7,200 Polish Zloty Collected Toward €11,500 Goal for Rescue Effort
Friends and family of Igor, the young man gone missing in Madeira, are appealing for help. An online fundraiser in Poland has already gathered over about €8,000 (34,000 złoty) out of the €11,500 (50,000 złoty) needed to support a private rescue mission.
The campaign, titled “Help Us Find Igor in Madeira!” (“Pomóż nam odnaleźć Igora na Maderze!”) is hosted on the Polish crowdfunding platform zrzutka.pl.
CONTRIBUTE IN THE FUNDRAISER
Every contribution counts. “Time is critical,” the organizers wrote. “Local rescue services are searching, but their work is extremely difficult due to rough terrain and poor weather.” Funds raised will cover the cost of bringing in an experienced private search team that has already helped find 35 missing people in Madeira and mainland Portugal.
We’re deeply grateful for all your support and truly believe that, together, we can bring Igor safely home.
Contact Lost on Saturday Afternoon Between Levada dos Tornos and Pico Ruivo
Igor disappeared last Saturday while hiking from Levada dos Tornos toward Pico Ruivo, Madeira’s highest peak. Around 13:00 local time, his Find My iPhone signal stopped transmitting, and all communication attempts failed.
Madeiran rescue units have been searching ever since, but steep slopes, fog, and changing weather make the operation extremely difficult. The area is known for its breathtaking views - and its unpredictable conditions.
383 Donors Join Appeal to Bring Igor Safely Home
So far, 383 supporters have donated to the campaign, which will remain open for 90 days. Many contributors shared the link online to help reach more people.
